While most Forgeborn live and die within Union territory, many work off-contract in foreign ports and frontier stations, travelling wherever there is need for repair, construction, or salvage.

Union law follows its citizens. A Forgeborn who breaks an oath in foreign space may return home to find their number under review. A foreign station that mistreats Union workers, meanwhile, will discover how quickly contracts dry up, and how fast their maintenance schedules start slipping.

• Gruff and humourless, until you earn their trust.

• Reliably competent: if they take a job, they intend to finish it well.
